“2001: A Space Odyssey” is a science fiction movie directed by Stanley Kubrick and released in 1968. The movie is based on a novel of the same name written by Arthur C. Clarke. The story follows a voyage to Jupiter with the sentient computer HAL after the discovery of a mysterious black monolith affecting human evolution. The movie is known for its groundbreaking visual effects and its use of classical music, most notably Richard Strauss’s “Also sprach Zarathustra” and Johann Strauss II’s “The Blue Danube”. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential science fiction movies ever made.
