“Alien” is a science-fiction horror movie directed by Ridley Scott and released in 1979. The movie follows the crew of the commercial spaceship Nostromo, who are awakened from cryosleep to investigate a distress signal on a nearby planet. They discover a derelict alien spacecraft and a chamber filled with eggs, one of which hatches and attaches itself to a crew member, leading to a series of horrifying events as the crew tries to survive and destroy the deadly alien creature.

The movie starred Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, the resourceful and resilient survivor who becomes the lead protagonist of the Alien franchise. The movie received critical acclaim for its atmospheric and suspenseful storytelling, its groundbreaking visual effects and designs, and its strong cast, which included Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto, Veronica Cartwright, and Harry Dean Stanton.

“Alien” has since become a classic of the science-fiction and horror genres, spawning several sequels, prequels, and spin-offs, as well as influencing many other movies, TV shows, and games.
