“Captain America: The First Avenger” is a superhero film released in 2011 and directed by Joe Johnston. The movie tells the origin story of Steve Rogers, a young man with a strong desire to serve his country during World War II but is deemed physically unfit for military service. However, he is chosen for a top-secret experiment that turns him into a super-soldier named Captain America.
After undergoing the experiment, Captain America joins forces with Peggy Carter and Howard Stark to stop the evil HYDRA organization and their leader, Johann Schmidt (also known as the Red Skull), who seeks to use a powerful artifact called the Tesseract to rule the world. The movie also introduces the character Bucky Barnes, Steve’s childhood friend who later becomes the Winter Soldier.
“Captain America: The First Avenger” is the fifth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sets up Captain America as a central character in the ongoing story of the Avengers. The movie received generally positive reviews from critics and was a box office success, grossing over $370 million worldwide.
