John McClane attempts to avert disaster as rogue military operatives seize control of Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.
Die Hard 2 is a 1990 action thriller film directed by Renny Harlin and starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, reprising his role from the 1988 film Die Hard. The movie is also known as Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
The plot follows McClane as he attempts to thwart a group of terrorists who plan to take over Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., on Christmas Eve. The terrorists, led by former U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel Stuart (played by William Sadler), take control of the airport’s communication systems and threaten to cause plane crashes unless their demands are met.
As McClane races against time to stop the terrorists and rescue his wife who is on one of the hijacked planes, he must also contend with the airport’s police chief who doesn’t believe his warnings, as well as a rogue U.S. Army unit that is secretly aiding the terrorists.
Die Hard 2 was a commercial success, grossing over $240 million worldwide. It received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the action sequences and Willis’ performance.
