GoldenEye is a British spy film released in 1995, directed by Martin Campbell and starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. It is the seventeenth film in the James Bond series and was produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
The film’s plot revolves around James Bond’s efforts to stop a former MI6 agent named Alec Trevelyan (played by Sean Bean) from using a stolen Soviet space weapon known as “GoldenEye” to cause a global financial meltdown.
The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $350 million worldwide. It also introduced a new M, played by Judi Dench, who would continue to appear in subsequent Bond films.
GoldenEye is widely regarded as one of the best films in the James Bond franchise and is notable for its use of practical stunts and special effects, as well as its iconic theme song performed by Tina Turner.
