“Hacksaw Ridge” is a 2016 war drama film directed by Mel Gibson, starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths, and Vince Vaughn. The film is based on the true story of Desmond T. Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist conscientious objector who served as a medic in World War II and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery.

The movie depicts Doss’s journey as he enlists in the army but refuses to carry a weapon due to his religious beliefs. He faces ridicule and discrimination from his fellow soldiers and superiors but remains committed to serving as a medic and saving lives on the battlefield. The film’s climax shows Doss single-handedly rescuing 75 wounded soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa.

“Hacksaw Ridge” received critical acclaim and was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Doss. It won two Oscars for Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing.
