A new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.
General information
Jurassic World is a 2015 American science fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley. The movie is the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film series and is set 22 years after the events of the original Jurassic Park.
The movie follows the story of Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the operations manager of the dinosaur theme park called Jurassic World, located on Isla Nublar. When a new genetically modified dinosaur called Indominus Rex is created and escapes, Claire and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a Velociraptor trainer, must work together to stop the Indominus Rex before it destroys the park and kills the visitors.
The film was a commercial success, grossing over $1.6 billion worldwide, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time at the time of its release. It was followed by two sequels, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Jurassic World: Dominion, which is set to be released in 2022.
