Spider-Man is a 2002 superhero film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as the titular character, also known as Peter Parker. The movie follows Peter Parker, a high school student who gains spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically-engineered spider. With his newfound powers, Peter decides to become a superhero and uses his abilities to fight crime and protect the citizens of New York City.

The movie also features Willem Dafoe as the villainous Green Goblin, who terrorizes the city with his advanced technology and weaponry. Kirsten Dunst plays Mary Jane Watson, Peter’s love interest, and James Franco portrays Harry Osborn, Peter’s best friend.

The movie was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $820 million worldwide and receiving positive reviews for its performances, direction, and visual effects. It also spawned two sequels, Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), both of which also starred Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man.
