After Peter Parker is bitten by a genetically altered spider, he gains newfound, spider-like powers and ventures out to save the city from the machinations of a mysterious reptilian foe.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” is a superhero film released in 2012. It is a reboot of the “Spider-Man” film franchise and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, and Denis Leary as Captain Stacy.
The movie explores Peter Parker’s origin story, as he gains his spider-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. He uses his powers to fight crime and protect the citizens of New York City, while also trying to uncover the truth about his parents’ disappearance.
Dr. Curt Connors, a former colleague of Peter’s father, becomes a villainous figure known as The Lizard after experimenting with reptilian DNA in an attempt to regrow his missing arm. Spider-Man must stop The Lizard’s plans to turn all of humanity into lizard-like creatures.
The movie was generally well-received by audiences and critics, and led to two sequels, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in 2014 and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
