“The Father” is a 2020 drama film directed by Florian Zeller, based on his own play of the same name. The film follows the story of Anthony, an aging man who refuses assistance from his daughter as he struggles with memory loss and the challenges of living alone.

The film stars Anthony Hopkins as Anthony, Olivia Colman as his daughter Anne, and features other notable actors such as Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams.

The film was praised for its performances, particularly Hopkins’ portrayal of an elderly man with dementia, as well as its unique and effective approach to storytelling that puts the viewer in the perspective of the protagonist. It received numerous awards and nominations, including six Academy Award nominations, and Hopkins won the Best Actor award at the 93rd Academy Awards.
