The Godfather: Part II is a 1974 American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Albert S. Ruddy. It is the second installment in The Godfather trilogy and a sequel to The Godfather (1972). The film stars Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keaton. The film explores the early life of Vito Corleone (De Niro) and the ascension of Michael Corleone (Pacino) as the head of the Corleone crime family. The film was a critical and commercial success and is widely considered one of the greatest sequels ever made.
