“The Green Mile” is a 1999 American fantasy crime drama film directed by Frank Darabont and based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb, a prison guard working on death row during the 1930s. The film follows Paul and his fellow guards as they discover that one of their death row inmates, John Coffey (played by Michael Clarke Duncan), possesses mysterious and miraculous powers.

As the story unfolds, Paul and his colleagues struggle to come to terms with the reality of John’s abilities, while also facing moral and ethical dilemmas surrounding their duties as prison guards. The movie explores themes of injustice, compassion, and the power of empathy, while also showcasing exceptional performances from its cast.
