“The Intouchables” is a 2011 French film directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano. The movie is based on the true story of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, a wealthy tetraplegic man, and his unlikely friendship with Driss, a young man from the projects who becomes his caregiver.

Driss is a charismatic and street-smart young man who has just been released from prison. He applies for the job of Philippe’s caregiver, not because he’s interested in the job, but because he needs a signature to prove he is looking for work in order to receive government assistance. Despite having no experience or qualifications for the job, Driss is hired by Philippe, who is looking for someone who won’t pity him.

The movie follows the evolution of their relationship, from an employer-employee dynamic to a true friendship. Through their interactions, they learn from each other, and Driss helps Philippe to rediscover the joys of life.

“The Intouchables” was a commercial and critical success, becoming the second-highest-grossing French film of all time at the box office. The movie was praised for its humor, heartwarming story, and the performances of its lead actors, François Cluzet and Omar Sy. The film was also remade in several languages, including English as “The Upside” in 2017.
