“The King’s Speech” is a 2010 historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. The movie tells the story of King George VI (played by Colin Firth), who, after his brother abdicates the throne, reluctantly becomes king of England.
However, George VI is afflicted with a severe stammer, which makes it difficult for him to speak in public and fulfill his duties as king. In his quest to overcome his stammer, he seeks the help of an unorthodox speech therapist named Lionel Logue (played by Geoffrey Rush).
Through a series of challenging exercises and therapy sessions, Logue helps the king to overcome his stammer and gain the confidence he needs to address his nation during a time of war.
The movie received critical acclaim and won several awards, including four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Colin Firth, and Best Original Screenplay for David Seidler.
