“True Grit” is a 2010 American Western film directed by the Coen brothers and starring Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, and Matt Damon. It is a remake of the 1969 film of the same name, which was based on the novel of the same name by Charles Portis.

The movie follows a young girl named Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) who hires a U.S. Marshal named Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to help her track down Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), the man who killed her father. Along the way, they are joined by a Texas Ranger named LaBoeuf (Matt Damon), who is also pursuing Chaney for a separate crime.

The film was well-received by critics and was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It won the award for Best Supporting Actor for Christian Bale’s performance as Dicky Eklund. Jeff Bridges was also nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Rooster Cogburn.

“True Grit” was praised for its performances, cinematography, and adherence to the source material. It remains a popular and highly-regarded Western film.
